1) EV Charger Installation in Brighton & Hove

Last month I installed a Hypervolt EV charger in a home in Westdene where the customer was really keen to keep any wiring as hidden as possible. The layout of the home meant there wasn't a straight forward route for us to take, so I ran the cable up through the loft through various cupboards and under floorboards to completely hide the wiring. The end result was a clean, discreet install that looked like it had always been there.

That’s a pretty typical example of the work that goes into carrying out a high quality EV charger install in Brighton & Hove. Every property is different and it is impossible to treat it as a one-size-fits-all job. I’ve been an electrician for over 10 years and installing EV chargers is one of the most detail-focused parts of what I do, especially when it comes handing over to the customer and making sure everything is signed off and certified properly

Another recent job I have done is installing a BG Sync EV charger where the driveway was over 30 metres from the house. This included digging a trench and burying the cable. There was no suitable wall to mount the EV charger, so I supplied and fitted a free-standing post, giving the customer a practical and tidy solution that still looked nice.

2) Real EV Charger Installations in Brighton & Hove

Not every EV charger installed in Brighton & Hove is straightforward, and that’s where experience really matters.

In Westdene, the Hypervolt installation required lots of careful planning to avoid having a big horrible cable on show. We used loft access and internal routing to keep everything hidden, which made a big difference to the final finish.

On another job, a BG Sync EV charger was installed where the parking space was separated from the house by a long garden. With no suitable wall where the car would be parked, I supplied a mounting pillar and finished a safe, secure installation that still looked clean and intentional rather than like a bodged afterthought.

These are the sorts of real-world problems you only really learn to overcome after doing this work day in, day out.

3) What’s Involved in an EV Charger Installation

Here’s how I normally handle an EV charger install from start to finish:

  • You get in touch via the contact form or give me a call
  • I arrange a site visit to assess your property and carry out a survey
  • I send a written estimate, including any technical information on the charger
  • Once accepted, I submit a DNO application and await approval
  • I carry out the installation, test everything, certify it, and walk you through how it works (including the app setup if applicable)

Most installs are completed in a single day, provided there are no unusual supply upgrades needed.

4) Why People Choose Me for EV Charger Installation

I’m a NAPIT registered Electrician and an approved installer for Zappi, BG Sync EV, and Andersen chargers, which means i work to recognised standards and not just “fitting and hoping”

I also have over 90+ 5 star google reviews from local customers, and a lot of my work comes from referrals or repeat customers who value clear communication.

One thing I’m very strict about is communication. From the moment you first enquire, you’ll get updates whether that’s a booking confirmation for a site survey, quote timelines, or appointment reminders. It sounds simple, but it stops that common frustration of wondering if someone is actually going to turn up.

5) What I See Go Wrong When EV Chargers Are Installed Poorly

The biggest issue I come across is EV chargers being installed onto existing electrical supplies that aren’t suitable or compliant for the additional load.

This can lead to nuisance tripping, overloading the installation, electric shock and damage to your home

I always ensure to carry out a pre installation survey before sending you a quote. If upgrades are needed, I’ll explain why without any jargon so you know why it is unsafe and needs changing

6) Brands and chargers that I use

I regularly install and work with:

  • Zappi by myenergi
  • Sync EV By BG
  • Andersen
  • Simpson & Partners
  • Hypervolt

Each property is different, so the choice of charger depends on usage, location, and whether solar integration or app control is needed.

7) Pricing and What’s Included

Most EV charger installations can be completed within a day, and I often supply the charger as part of the service.

The price depends on the property layout, distance from the consumer unit, and whether any supply upgrades or groundworks are needed. After the initial site visit, I will provide a clear written estimate so there are no surprises later down the line.

On completion we will carry out all, testing, certification, and full handover so you know exactly how to use your charger and app.

8) What to Expect When You Contact Me

When you get in touch about an EV charger install near me or in Brighton & Hove, you’ll speak directly with me, not a call centre or sales team.

I’ll ask a few simple questions, arrange a visit, and then take it from there. If you’re not sure what charger you need, I can explain the differences and recommend the best charger for your needs so you can make the right decision for your home or business.

9) FAQ

How long does an EV charger installation take?

Most installations can take a day. If there are complications such as long cable runs or supply upgrades needed, I will explain this during the survey so there are no surprises or delays.

Do you supply the EV charger as well?

Yes, I can supply all the materials including the charger itself. I work with brands like Zappi, Hypervolt, and BG Sync EV depending on what suits your property best. But if you have another charger you would like to have installed you can let us know or supply it yourself

Are you qualified to install EV chargers?

Yes, I’m NAPIT registered and an approved installer for several major EV charger brands. All work is tested, certified, and carried out to current UK wiring regulations.

What happens if my electrical supply isn’t suitable?

This is something I will check during the site visit. In some cases after carrying out the DNO application an supply upgrade is needed. This will be done by the Local DNO but i can help liaise and arrange that with you

Do you offer a guarantee on your work?

Yes, all of our installations come with a 12-month workmanship guarantee. If there are any issues related to my install, I’ll come back and put it right.

Can you install chargers at businesses as well as homes?

Yes, I regularly carry out both domestic and commercial EV charger installations across Brighton & Hove and surrounding areas.

Do I need to do anything before installation day?

Not usually. I’ll confirm access requirements during the survey, but I handle everything from materials to commissioning and testing on the day so you don't need to do anything

If you’re looking to get an EV charger installed in Brighton & Hove and want it done properly I can take care of everything from survey through to final testing and handover. I’ll give you honest advice on what works best for your property with no obligation and a clear written quote.
